Missouri Not in Color: County House in May, Columbia

County House creek, just down the street from my house, after a particularly prolific thunderstorm back in May.  This is a black and white version of the color original...the color original had some virtues, but this works better.

Tattoo and alley

For me, this image is an attempt to delicately balance the light coming from the tattoo shop window, with the fading light of the evening sky.  The negative space above the alleyway is every bit as important as the warmth of the neon in the window.  This is the kind of scene that one only seems to find on a spring or summer night, when the light of twilight seems to linger warmly on the horizon.  This particular scene was taken last spring on Tenth Street, just across the street from Tiger Tattoo.

The cusp of the fest

The future box office of the  2013 True False Film Festival is being quickly transformed from an empty brick building into a warm, inviting....nest, aerie, hive?
